Women's Tennis Drops Match With No. 6 Montreat

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team saw their 14 match win streak come to an end on Thursday afternoon at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex. The Blue Raiders suffered a 6-1 loss to No. 6-ranked Montreat in a match that saw the Blue Raiders win just one match.

Valerie Quiceno and Sofia Hernandez claimed the first victory of the day, defeating Parisa Rachdanone and Darija Mladenovic 6-1 in the No. 3 doubles match as Stephanie Petit and Carolina Reis defeated A. Ivanchenko and Salome Sposetti in the top-seeded match 6-2 to claim the doubles point.

No. 9-ranked Alexandra Parra and Lucia Mora led their match against Nicole Bueno and Sofia Rojas 5-2 but play would go unfinished.

No. 10-ranked Valerie Quiceno rolled over Challarapu 6-0, 6-2 to open singles play as No. 2-ranked Stephanie Petit pushed the Montreat lead to 3-0 with her win over No. 29 Parra 6-0, 6-3.

No. 32 Mora picked up the Blue Raiders only win when she battled her way to a win over Vaishnavi Venkaten 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. Montreat claimed the final three matches of the afternoon to claim the win over the Blue Raiders.

Lindsey Wilson is back on the courts on Sunday when they host Georgetown (Ky.) on senior day at 1 p.m. CT.
