Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team saw their NAIA National Championship run end this afternoon after a 4-0 loss to No. 1-seeded Georgia Gwinnett in the NAIA National Championships quarterfinals at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Grizzlies (15-0) snagged the doubles point winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded matches.
Maria Genovese and Stephanie Fernandez won first in the top-seeded match with a 6-2 win over Alexandra Parra and Lucia Mora. Selina Pichler and Iryna Lysykh claimed the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Reshma Challarapu and Salome Sposetti in the second-seeded match.
Down 1-0, things went from bad to worse as the Blue Raiders dropped three straight singles matches to fall 4-0.
Genovese defeated Parra 6-1, 6-0 in the top-seeded singles match before Lysykh defeated Darija Mladenovic 6-2, 6-2 in the fourth-seeded game.
The final blow came as Liza Velykorodna defeated Parisa Rachdanone 6-3, 6-3 to hand the win to the Grizzlies. The remaining singles matches were halted once the final point was scored.
The Blue Raiders finish the season with a record of 23-4.
