INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team opened the season with a 5-2 loss to NCAA DII member the University of Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon.
Darija Mladenovic and Anastasiia Ivanchenko dropped their doubles match to Maissane Aik and Maria Fiacan 6-4 as Heyka Rodriguez and Mayra Gisone fell to Diane Flament and Aimee Reynoso 6-3. The results lost the Blue Raiders the doubles point.
The top-seeded doubles match between LWC's Reshma Challarapu and Parisa Rachdanone and UIndy's Anna Novikova and Lea Cakarevic went unfinished with the Blue Raiders trailing 4-3.
In singles play, Salome Sposetti recorded LWC's first point of the match on a forfeit win. Ivanchenko won the fourth-seeded match for LWC 6-2, 6-3 over Reynoso. The win was the last of the day for the Blue Raiders as they fell 5-2.
Mladenovic fell 6-1, 6-3 to Novikova, Challarapu lost to Aik 6-3, 6-2 as Rachdanone lost 6-1, 6-0 to Fiacan. Gisone closed out play with a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Cakarevic.
Lindsey Wilson now turns their attention to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship as they take on No. 2 Keiser on Friday at Overland Park, Kansas.
