Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team fell to No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett, 4-1, in the first match of the Grizzly Invitational at GGC Tennis Facility on Friday afternoon.
In the No. 1 doubles match, Parisa Rachdanone and Mayra Gisone were bested by Stephanie Fernandez and Cassidy Mataia, 6-1, showing the Grizzlies' momentum lead into the second match. Heyka Rodriguez and Darija Mladenovic fell to Justine Lespes and Angel Carney, 6-0, securing the doubles point for Georgia Gwinnett.
The Grizzlies continued to roll in the singles portion. Reshma Challarapu fell to Teodora Jovic, 6-4. 6-0 and Salome Sposetti was downed by Lespes, 6-0, 6-3. Carney got the better of Anastasiia Ivanchenko, 6-4, 6-0 to secure the win with the fourth point of the day.
When play was halted, Mladenovic was up a set on Mataia 6-1, 4-4, while Rachdanone was down a set and headed to a tiebreaker in the second set.
The Blue Raiders now turn their attention to No. 13 St. Thomas (Fla.) at noon CT on Saturday at the GGC Tennis Facility.
