OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Xavier (La.) at the ITA NAIA National Women's Team Indoor Championship on Saturday evening at Overland Park Racquet Club.

In the doubles matches Parisa Rachdanone and Anastasiia Ivanchenko fell to Valaine Clarke and Jaylnn Balleste 6-3, while Salome Sposetti and Reshma Challarapu were defeated in the No. 3 match, 6-2, by McKenna Wheatley and Tianna Dixon giving the Gold Nuggets the doubles point. The No. 1 doubles matchup went unfinished between Darija Mladenovic and Heyka Rodriguez against Mbali Langa and Valentina Largacha, being tied 5-5 when the match was called.

In the No. 1 singles match Challarapu defeated Langa 6-1, 0-6, 6-3 giving the Blue Raiders their first points of the matchup. Sposetti fell to Juliette Finch 6-2, 6-2 while Mladenovic downed Balleste 6-3, 4-6, 6-0, making it a 2-2 score. XULA then used victories from Dixon over Ivanchenko, 1-6, 6-3, 2-6 as Largacha toppled Rachdanone in what was a back-and-forth match ending in the Gold Nuggets favor, 6-3, 2-6, 4-6, giving Xavier the 4-2 win.

The No. 6 singles match between Mayra Gisone and Yi Chen Pao went unfinished at 4-6, 4-1, when the match was called.

The Blue Raiders now gear up for the Grizzly Invitational in Lawrenceville, Ga., taking on top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett on Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. CT.
