Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team defeated No. 19 Campbellsville (Ky.), 6-1, winning the women's tennis edition of the Battle of Highway 55 on Thursday afternoon at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
In the doubles portion of the match, Mayra Gisone and Heyka Rodriguez defeated Clara Asprella and Ariadna Perez, 6-1, as Darija Mladenovic and Reshma Challarapu downed Angela Mendoza and Oriana Espinoza, 6-2, giving the Blue Raiders the doubles point. Lindsey Wilson would go on to sweep the doubles matches when Parisa Rachdanone and Anastasiia Ivanchenko defeated Miru Nonaka and Candela Converti, 6-2.
In the singles matches, Challarapu toppled Perez, 6-4, 6-1, and Mladenovic then downed Nonaka, 6-0, 1-6, 6-2. Salome Sposetti defeated Mendoza 7-5, 2-6, 3-0, and retired, as Mendoza was deemed physically unable to continue in the contest. That victory gave the Blue Raiders the win over the Tigers. Both squads played their matches to completion where Rachdanone defeated Bleake Mitchel, 6-2, 6-2, as the Tigers notched their first, and only, point of the match when Espinoza downed Ivanchenko, 6-2, 6-3. Gisone polished off the Blue Raider victory with a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7) win over Asprella, having the scorebook showing 6-1 in Lindsey Wilson's favor.
The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team will be back in action when they take on Thomas More (Ky.) on Mar. 30 at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
