Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – At the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex, the Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team called all the shots and soundly upended Thomas More University (Ky.), 7-0. The victory pushes the Blue Raiders' win-streak to seven matches and caps off a perfect slate for the month of March.
The locals got to work quickly in doubles competition, as Heyka Rodriguez and Mayra Gisone shutout their opponent, 6-0, to claim their seventh win of the season as a pair.
Anastasiia Ivanchenko and Salome Sposetti (1-1) clinched the Blue Raiders' first team point of the match at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1 decision, and Reshma Challarapu and Darija Mladenovic (7-0) completed the sweep at No. 2 doubles with a 6-2 result.
In singles action, Challarapu posted back-to-back 6-2 scores to earn her sixth victory of the season, then at the No. 3 slot, Mladenovic defeated Thomas More's Noelia Martinez Garcia – 6-1, 6-3 – to remain unblemished as an individual (9-0).
Sposetti's (6-7) straight-set win at No. 2 singles secured the match for Lindsey Wilson, and Parisa Rachdanone (9-3), Ivanchenko (6-5), and Rodriguez (4-1) also garnered tallies behind respective two-set decisions.
The Blue Raiders are back on the courts on Saturday afternoon to host Shawnee State University at 1 p.m. CST. The match will also serve as the team's "Senior Day" celebration where it will recognize its lone senior, Rachdanone, prior to the match.
