Box Score

WESTFIELD, Ind. -  Led by Sebastian Tregarthen's two goals coming from the left wing, the No. 5 ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team made a statement with a 3-0 victory over No. 1 Bethel (Ind.).

With the victory, the Blue Raiders earn their first win over a number one ranked team since September 10, 2005.

The game started with the Blue Raiders appearing to have an extra gear in comparison to the No. 1 ranked team. In the 11th minute Lindsey Wilson took advantage of their good start as Sebastian Tregarthen scored a golazo going past 4 Bethel players, netting his 7th goal of the season.

Not much happened until the 35th minute in which forward Sadam Masereka's shot was denied by an amazing save from the Pilot keeper, Mathis Neuhaus. First half ended with 9 shots for Lindsey Wilson and 5 shots for Bethel, displaying the slight dominance from the Blue Raiders.

The Pilots started the second half looking like a better side, but Blue Raiders' Tregarthen had other plans. The Uruguayan freshman repeated the same formula, running down the left wing, cutting inside to his right foot and drilling it near the bottom left corner. This goal places him as the top scorer of the conference, with 8 goals.

Michael Acquah sealed the game with a great strike on the half-volley in the 68' minute. The Pilots improved their game in the second half but it was not enough to get past Pablo Costa, who made 4 saves and collected his second clean sheet of the season.

The match ended with Lindsey having 12 shots against Bethel's 10, with 5 being on target for the Blue Raiders and 4 for the Pilots. Yellow cards were also spread out evenly as Lindsey received 3 and Bethel 2.

The men's soccer team will continue their formidable start to the season this weekend against Grace on Saturday 16 at 5 p.m. CST.
