COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson junior varsity volleyball team opened its 2024 schedule with a four-set victory over Brescia (Ky.) on Monday evening at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders pummeled the Bearcats with a 0.370 attack percentage and 15 service aces.

Sophomore Natalie Wandrie struck for 24 kills to go along with 11 digs, and fellow second-year Haleigh Wood recorded a team-best 18 digs and seven aces. Freshmen Chelsey Kisegy tallied a team-high 27 assists.

Brescia grabbed an early 3-1 lead in the first set but a 7-1 swing by Lindsey Wilson quickly shifted momentum in the Blue Raiders favor. The rally increased to a 12-6 scoreline for the hosts, which they carried to a ten-point opening-set win.

The Bearcats responded to take the second frame, despite a furious Blue Raider comeback that trimmed a nine-point deficit to two but no closer.

In the third, the visitors, again, inched in front before a 10-0 Lindsey Wilson run put the home side in the driver's seat. Freshman Cammie Judd ran the service line for the Blue Raiders during the run, dropping two of her three service aces. Brescia did mount a charge to pull back in contention only for Lindsey Wilson to clinch the set on a Bearcats' attach error.

A 5-0 start to the fourth set by the Blue Raiders sent them on their way to winning the match. A pair of aces by Wandrie down the stretch helped the home side grow its lead to double digits en route to a 25-14 set win.

The Blue Raider JV volleyball team returns to action at 5 p.m. CST on Tuesday, September 10 to host Campbellsville (Ky.)
