MOBILE, Ala. – No. 3-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's tennis punched its ticket to the national semifinals Thursday morning with a 4-1 victory over No. 6-seeded Loyola (La.) (17-6) in the quarterfinals of the 2025 NAIA National Championships at the Mobile Tennis Center. Senior
Anastasiia Ivanchenko delivered the clinching point for the Blue Raiders with a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles.
The Blue Raiders (18-2) were dominant in doubles play, quickly claiming the opening point. The No. 4-ranked duo of Mayra Gisone and Ivanchenko opened the scoring with a 6-1 win at No. 2. Moments later, top-ranked Heyka Rodriguez and Anastasiia Vorobiova matched that score with a 6-1 win over the No. 5-ranked pair of Lucy Carpenter and Chloe Henderson at the top line to secure the 1-0 lead.
In singles, Lindsey Wilson extended its advantage to 2-0 when No. 7-ranked Aina Domingo Bernabeu took down No. 5-ranked Carpenter in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, in a marquee top-court matchup.
No. 19-ranked Vorobiova added another Blue Raider point at No. 2 with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 35-ranked Micaela Ponce to push the lead to 3-0.
Loyola got on the board at No. 3 singles, where No. 50-ranked Henderson defeated No. 33-ranked Mariangeles Mateu, 6-0, 6-4, to make it 3-1.
Ivanchenko then sealed the win for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Adele Fereres at No. 4, clinching the Blue Raiders' spot in the semifinals.
With the victory, Lindsey Wilson moves on to face No. 2-seeded Georgia Gwinnett (14-2) in Friday's national semifinal. The Grizzlies advanced after a 4-0 win over Middle Georgia in their quarterfinal.
Friday's semifinal against top-seeded Georgia Gwinnett will be a rematch of this year's NAIA Indoor semifinals, where the Grizzlies defeated the Blue Raiders 4-1 in a match that was much tighter than the scoreline suggests—every unfinished court was deep in a third set before the Grizzlies clinched. This marks Lindsey Wilson's 12th all-time appearance in the national semifinals, matching last year's run. The Blue Raiders will look to break through for their third national final appearance in program history.
Tomorrow's semifinal is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. CT.
