Flag Football Splits in Virginia

FERRUM, Va.- The Blue Raider women's flag football team went 1-1 this weekend, defeating Hollins (Va.) 97-0 and dropping the 39-19 decision to Ferrum (Va.). 

Amaya Pablo went 39-for-70 on the day, tallying 431 passing yards. Carley Yokley carried the ball 11 times on the day for a total of 98 rushing yards. Emily Good led the defense with a team-high 13 tackles and two interceptions for a combined 30-yards.

Game One: Lindsey Wilson 97, Hollins 0
Lindsey Wilson began its first drive at the 11:27 mark for a touchdown pass from Amaya Pablo to Demi Serman 20-yards out to lead 7-0. The Blue Raiders took possession again with time winding down for excellent field position on the Hollins 17. 

Pablo kicked off the second quarter with a 10-yard rush to put the Blue Raiders on the seven-yard line. Pablo found Serman once again from seven-yards out for a 14-0 Blue Raider advantage. Lindsey Wilson closed out the first half with four more unanswered touchdowns to lead 42-0 headed into halftime. 

Lindsey Wilson picked up where it left off, converting on a three-play touchdown drive where Pablo found Emily Good for an eight-yard touchdown reception extending the lead to 49-0. At 6:50, Pablo found Jenna Lindsey for three yards, increasing the lead to 55-0. With 2:37 on the clock, Pablo found Cadence Wermers in the endzone for a 62-0 lead, followed by a pick-six from Emily Good for Lindsey Wilson to lead 69-0 headed into the final 15 minutes. 

The Blue Raiders closed out the fourth quarter scoring four more unanswered touchdowns to defeat Hollins 97-0.

Game Two: Lindsey Wilson 19, Ferrum 39
Ferrum began the game scoring three straight touchdowns to lead 20-0 headed into halftime. Lindsey Wilson put its first points on the board in the third quarter on a 32-yard rushing touchdown from Pablo to trail Ferrum 20-7 headed into the final 15 minutes of action. 

LWU forced Ferrum to turn the ball over on downs, setting them up for great field position at the 16. Pablo found Lindsey for a 16-yard catch in the endzone, cutting the deficit to 26-13 with 1:02 to play. 

Lindsey Wilson fell short, dropping the 39-19 decision to Ferrum Saturday evening. 

Women's flag football will be back in action on Friday, March 13, against Campbellsville (Ky.) in the season's home-opener.
