COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 2-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team opens NAIA Tournament play on Wednesday against No. 18 seed Cumberland (Tenn.) at 1 p.m. CT in Mobile, Alabama, at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Blue Raiders earned a first-round bye after capturing both the Mid-South Conference Regular Season and Conference Tournament titles. Lindsey Wilson enters play with a record of 16-1 and has won 13 straight. During the winning streak, the Blue Raiders have outscored their opponents 80-5.
Cumberland opened its tournament on Tuesday with a 4-3 victory over No. 15 seed Morningside (Iowa). This season, the Phoenix are 11-9 and went 4-2 in the MSC, falling in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
Lindsey Wilson and Cumberland met back on March 28 in Columbia, with the Blue Raiders earning the 6-1 victory. The Blue Raiders are 26-4 all-time against the Phoenix and have won the last 26 matches.
The winner advances to Thursday's quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of No. 7 LSU Alexandria (La.) and No. 10 Marian (Ind.) at 1 p.m. CT.
First serve between Lindsey Wilson and Cumberland is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT on Wednesday at the Mobile Tennis Center.
